“A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh.”

MK 10:7-8

“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.”  Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1601

Your wedding day will be here before you know it. At Light of the World Catholic Church we want to help give you the tools to live a sacramental marriage for the rest of your lives. The process can take about 8-12 months to complete. Below are the steps to help you complete the preparation journey.

Contact Sherwood Owens at 303-973-3969 for initial intake information and to schedule an appointment to begin the process and look at a tentative wedding date.

At the meeting you will complete the FOCCUS inventory and pay the sanctuary fee. They will also discuss the rest of the process and determine if you are free to marry and understand the Sacrament of Matrimony.

You will attend a Marriage Builder Weekend which is a great opportunity to grow in your deeper relationship with each other and your relationship with God. It is a requirement of the Archdiocese of Denver. Light of the World is a host site for the preparation. In order to register, click on the brochure below, fill out the registration form and return it to Light of the World.

Upcoming weekends include:

  • April 23-24, 2021 – FULL
  • August 6-7, 2021
  • January 21-23, 2022
  • April 22-24, 2022

As a couple you are asked to complete a Natural Family Planning course. That can be a three session course with the Couple-to-Couple League or individual instruction with various other methods. This step helps couples to enrich their relationship and understand the natural cycles of fertility and infertility. The Archdiocese of Denver site is: http://archden.org/eflm/nfp/.

You will be blessed with meeting with a married couple from the parish to discuss your FOCCUS inventory. The couple will review the inventory to help you celebrate the blessing in your relationship and if there are any areas that need to be addressed. The couple will contact you.

You will be meeting with the Wedding Coordinator to plan the details of the wedding and also our Director of Music to select music and musicians. If you bring in outside musicians they have to be approved by our Director of Music.

Below are brochures to help you better understand the process and give you the necessary tools to live the Sacrament of Matrimony forever.
